2017 Convention – details and registration form
Greetings from Winchendon, MA where plans are afoot for the 25th annual ICCC Convention! We’re very excited to tell you all about our town.
Winchendon is a great example of an old mill town in our post industrial age, it originally grew up due to its location on the Miller’s river and continues today as a commuter suburb for cities like Boston and Worcester. We’re about 60 miles west of Boston and 120 miles east of Albany, New York, pretty much where Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont meet. Folks looking to cross several states off their list will also find Connecticut and Rhode Island easy day trips. We offer easy access to the Green Mountains to the northwest, the White Mountains to the north and the Atlantic ocean to the east.
Folks flying in to visit us can choose from Boston/Logan our largest airport. Providence, Manchester, and Hartford each sport regional airports that will be easier to navigate and will add to your flight options. Those interested in taking the train will find Worcester the closest station, served by the Lake Shore Limited from Chicago.
We recommend both the Colonial Hotel in Gardner, MA 978-630-2500, colonial-hotel.com and the Woodbound Inn in Rindge, NH 603-532-8341 www.woodbound.com. Both are about the same distance from the convention with the Woodbound Inn having a bit more of a bed and breakfast feel. We will be reserving a block of rooms at the Colonial beginning December 26th but as there is no special rate feel free to book as soon as you like.
Campers should take a look at Lake Dennison State park in Winchendon. I’ll be booking the Group 1 site and would encourage folks to book sites 134-144 and 148-151 if they want to be with the group. An alternative for those who might like to try something different is to book a yurt at Otter River State Park in Baldwinville about a mile farther down the road. A yurt is kind of a cross between a tent and a cabin. The yurts in Otter River are permanently based with bunks and electricity inside. Otter River and Lake Dennison are both part of the Otter River State Forest, they’re lovely areas with plenty of opportunity for recreation like fishing, hiking and swimming. Campsite reservations can be made up to 6 months in advance through Reserve America www.reserveamerica.com .
Our convention will be held in the Winchendon Senior Center. This gorgeous building from the late 1800s was originally built as a school. We have full use of the facility giving ample space for all our needs.
Join us June 21st early arrival kickoff dinner will be at the Pavilion in Otter River State park and catered by a group of local enthusiasts with meats served up by pit master Jon, those lucky enough to have experienced his cooking will tell you this is a treat not to be missed.
The registration form PDF is available for download from THIS LINK
PLEASE NOTE: the registration form sent with No.1 Coleman Light 2017 has the wrong date for the early arrival dinner (it says June 23, should be June 21). Therefore please use the correct form from the link above, or make a note it’s June 21 otherwise you’ll miss it… apologies and thanks!
