8th Annual Great Lakes Fall Camp Out – Sept 16-18 2016
It is time to start planning to attend the 8th Annual Fall Great Lakes Camp Out. It will again be held at Gordon’s Campground which is located eight miles north of Kendallville, Indiana. Their address is 9500 E. 600 S. Wolcottville, IN 46795 and their phone is 260-351-3383.
The camp out will officially begin Friday September 16 and end Sunday September 18. Come enjoy the fellowship and the opportunity to buy and sell interesting gas pressure appliances. Bring lamps, lanterns, stoves, and irons and parts to display, sell and/or trade. All collectors, regardless of where they reside, are invited to this gathering. Attendees do not have to be members of the ICCC.
This time around our focus for the light up is lamps. With shades, without shades, it doesn’t matter. Just imagine seeing 20 or 30 lamps running at the same time. If you have don’t have a lamp yet, get busy going to flea markets, garage sales, and antique stores. If you can get a lantern going, lamps should be no problem for you. If all else fails, there will probably be someone at the gathering who would sell you one.
Jon Shearer negotiated an $18 per night deal – same as last year. They will hold sites in the Tulip Tree area under the name Coleman, so when you call mention the group reservation and make sure you mention the deal. Please call ahead and make a reservation as many of the perks they offer us are based on the number of reservations they have for our group. For those who are not interested in camping, there are several hotels nearby including a Holiday Inn Express, Best Western, and a Super 8. There will be a $2 per day charge for a visitor pass for those not camping on site.
We will be planning group meals at least for Friday dinner and Saturday breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you are willing to help cook or be responsible for a meal, please let us know. Jon and I will be cooking the Friday night meal.
We look forward to seeing you at Gordon’s.
